‘Pakistani Saqafat’ to be launched- THE NEWS (June 05, 2015)
Islamabad‘Pakistani Saqafat’, a book unveiling the common concerns of people regarding the culture of Pakistan, will be launched here on June 5 at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) by renowned folklorist Uxi Mufti.The book launch will be followed by a Dialogue on Culture and a concert of Sufi music to focus on cultural dimensions of development.Abida Parveen, celebrated sufi singer, literary personalities, poets and culture experts will highlight various aspects of the book and Pakistani culture on the occasion.“Pakistani Saqafat, the newly published book is vital for the understanding of Pakistani Culture. It touches many key issues and addresses common concerns such as, how is Pakistani Culture different from other cultures? How and when was Pakistan born culturally? What equivalence exists, if any, between our cultural geography and political ideology? How does cultural pluralism relate to social harmony? and What is the dream and reality of Pakistan?”, said the organisers of the event.Writer of the book, Uxi Mufti said that the book discusses, explains and clears many misperceptions that rid our minds about ourselves, our past, present and future as a nation.It engages the reader through a friendly dialogue without being pedantic or scholarly.“Crucial cultural questions have been touched upon avoiding all jargon, verbiage or text book terminology to make the book reader friendly yet the book openly and truthfully discuses core issues on cultural identity,” he said.
