Bano Qudsia

Bano Qudsia was born in 1928 at Ferozpur, India.She is a writer, intellectual, playwright and spiritualist from Pakistan who writes Urdu novels and short stories.She is best known for her novel “Raja Gidh” and has written for television and stage in both the Urdu and Punjabi languages. Her play “Aadhi Baat” has been called “a classic”. This Urdu novel of Bano Qudsia is one of her greatest Urdu books ever.The “Raja Gidh” of Bano Qudsia contains all the qualities of a great Urdu novel.She is such a writer who imposes her impulses in her books.Qudsia moved with her family to Lahore during the Partition of India.Her father, a landlord with a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, died when she was young.She attended school in Dharamsala in eastern India before moving to Lahore. Her mother, Mrs. Chattah, was an educator.She married novelist Ashfaq Ahmed.She wrote for college magazines and other journals. She graduated from Kinnaird College in Lahore.In 1951, she completed her M A degree in Urdu from the Government College Lahore.Her famous novels “La Zawal”, “Abaad weersay”, “Hijraton ke darmiayan ,Rah-e-Rawan” ,”Chota sehar bare log”, “Phir achanak youn huwa”, etc etc are graciously liked by a great number of her admirers all over the world.
